Plastic related stuff is very important at this age, but it also results many environmental problems. Landfill will occupy the space, polluted the ocean, etc. It usually takes more than 1,000 years to decompose. Recently, a Canada teenager figured this issue out, he tried to find out the microorganisms that can crumble the plastic. Yes, he did by some household chemicals and experimentation. The result is the decomposition time is degraded dramatically to only 3 months. It's really a huge contribution to the environment.

全世界每年使用掉五千億個塑膠袋，台灣就用掉一百八十億…
塑膠袋的問題一直都很嚴重，要花費一千年的時間才能分解掉，我們用的都留給好幾
代的子孫，垃圾掩埋法也佔了不少空間。
加拿大一個十六歲小孩，大概是參加科展之類的，他能讓塑膠袋快速分解，三個月就
能搞定。因為這件事，他拿到一萬美元獎金、二萬美元的獎學金。
他覺得一定是有什麼微生物在慢慢的分解塑膠袋，他發現這種微生物在自然界的量並
不多。於是，他試著把塑膠袋弄成粉沫狀，接下來他使用一些普通的家用化學品，發
酵粉、自來水使得微生物能快速成長，再加上塑膠粉和泥土，放入杯子中，並將溫度
控制在三十度。
三個月後，他將剩於的塑膠粉和培養出來的微生物放入三組燒瓶中，這三個瓶子都有
新放入的塑膠條，其中一個瓶子所放的微生物是煮過的（微生物已死）。
六週後，他測量這些燒瓶的重量，死掉的那一組重量仍相同，另外兩個瓶子平均減少
了17%的重量。但是，他覺得不夠好。他讓那些微生物在洋菜盤子上生長，發現裡面
居然有四種生物，其中三種是米蟲（只有吃不做事，X委？？？），只有第二種會分解塑膠。
接下來，他試幾種實驗，將那四種生物混合測試，發現將第一種和第二種混合時，能
夠減少32%的重量，因為第一種能夠幫助第二種微生物的複製。
這十六歲的小鬼依然不死心，還做了各種實驗，想讓塑膠的分解能夠更有效率。（想
當年我還只是個只知道玩的死高中生）
他說這些過程會產生一些水以及微量的二氧化碳…
另外他大學打算唸自然科學。
